Our Favorite Newborn Essential Products
There is nothing like the new mom anxiety you can get when you can't see your sweet babies face in the car. I got one of these WAY too late after having my first baby and wish I had gotten it as soon as she was born.
Blackout curtains might not come into play until baby is sleeping in their own room (everyone has very different sleep recommendations, so you do you mama) but I highly recommend keeping baby's sleep space so dark you can't see your own hand in front of your face. And these curtains sure do the trick.

There are so many sound machines to choose from. I LOVE this one because it connects to my phone, you can create a favorites list that sync to the base and cycle with a tap, you can create a schedule that turns a light on at wake times (amazing for the older baby/toddler age) and it is much cheaper than the Hatch sound machine.
Gross, and so necessary. We didn't realize how much we were missing this tool until we finally got one and tried it.
We tried quite a few swaddles in the newborn phase and the Love to Dream was definitely our favorite. It is super easy to put on and take off, no loud Velcro sounds for the middle of the night changes, and makes for an easy transition to the Magic Merlin Sleep Suit.
We still use Aquaphor on a nearly daily basis today. This stuff works wonders in all those nooks and crannies between their adorable rolls. Also, newborn babies' skin peels like crazy (something we didn't expect) and this works wonders. Diaper rash, cuts, chafing, you name it.
We have a very light sleeper (which came with its own set of helpful newborn supplies) but this sleeping baby sign was super helpful to prevent the dogs from barking and waking her up.
The thought of clipping my baby's tiny fingernails always freaked me out. So much so that I had my doula do it for the first time around 2 weeks old. I finally decided to buy one of these and they are amazing.
Disgusting, yes. Necessary, yes. I got this as a gift at my baby shower (it was not on my registry) and laughed to myself thinking I would never use it. Oh boy did I use it. When that first cold rolled around I did anything and everything I could to help make my baby more comfortable, and this nose sucker absolutely helps clear up their boogies.
I actually have a Boppy and this Frida Mom nursing pillow. While they both have their pros and cons, I will definitely use this one more in any future pregnancies. I just love how it buckles around the waist and keeps the pillow secure and in place. Plus it has two different sides, one is cushiony and the other with removeable memory-type foam.
